Artist Statement :

My work is about the process of layering materials in order to create forms. I primarily use the human figure as my subject due to the amount of complexities when looking at the body.  I want to understand why my instinct is drawn to these forms and mark making. Being able to use my hands to sculpt the figure on a flat surface is what excites me and drives my work further. This leads to many different ways of experimentation. My process involves, some if not all of the following; textured surfaces, charcoal, acrylic, and soft pastel. Building up these layers, while using these materials is how I give a two dimensional work a three dimensional shape. That is what motivates my creative process.
